Akahoshi Ramen is a humble ramen shop in the city of Chicago. Everything is made in the restaurant, including all soups, seasonings, toppings, and noodles. We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect. Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Our ramen is influenced by Japanese and American ideals in cooking. We hope you will join us to enjoy a bowl of ramen, made with the respect and passion it deserves.

We enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. The food was all delicious. We ordered from both the regular and special Thanksgiving menu. Our food took longer than expected due to an unexpected glitch, but our server, Audrey, and the management took very good care of us. We had so much fun enjoying the lively atmosphere. I can't wait to return. Thanks for being open on a holidsy.

The menu selection and variety tremendous. Best lobster roll and wedge salad I’ve ever had, beautifully prepared and the chef did not cut back on the serving size to cut corners unlike most restaurants. Well with the price which is not inexpensive. Much better than I ever remembered the Gage being in prior years, to bad we have to leave town and could not go again. But we will be back. Our server, Crystal G was over the top in her help selecting choices and in her attentiveness . A wonderful luncheon spot for sure and I’ve been to the best of the best around the world.
