Best Fun Restaurants in Meriden

Booked as a Christmas treat as a romantic evening and the Cross delivered, absolutely on point with everything. The location is unassuming from the outside but is beautiful once you enter. Plenty of space for pre drinks before you enter the dining room. Whilst the dining room is intimate, you aren’t sat too close to other tables which tends to leave you feeling awkward in some fine dining establishments. The service was excellent with fantastic attention to detail. Before we ordered from the three course A là Carte, the Amuse-bouche and bread shared by the kitchen were both an absolute treat. The December menu that we were lucky enough to select from was outstanding. The duck egg for starters was a particular treat and we both had the fillet of beef cooked over coals - all elements outstanding with particular praise to the tartlet of beef check, perfectly executed. The deserts, we choose the Hazelnut praline Soufflé and the black forest gateau. I loved both but note the gateau packs a punch with its flavour, again something that was fantastic for me but could be a little too sweet/sour for others. Overall, you can’t go wrong with the Cross which I believe, was excellent value for money.

Food was great and drinks amazing, the person that served us incredibly nice and fun, however the person that brought the drinks was a bit off when we asked for the ice to be removed from one drink. Also, I received a pink panther drink that came with a steamy dry ice and when I asked if I should do anything about that as I didn’t know if I should pour that int he drink she turned her back, I assumed she didn’t hear me. In the future is better when you serve this drink to let people know that is just a decoration thing as not everyone knows and accidents may happen. Information is key.

Lovely muscles. Very plump and beautifully cooked. My mum had a nicely slow cooked beef cheek that just fell apart. Perfect.

It's very beautiful interior of the restaurant, food was very delicious and price was expected. But services was absolutely horrible. Just because of this I wouldn't go back or recommend it for my friends. Waiter was not concerned for our table, he come to take order, but was still talking with another table, so I needed to wait untill he will finished. To take our place they need to people. Waiter was putting all food leftovers in my plate in front of me and cleaning the table with our dirty napkins. So disappointed!

The service was exceptional from start to finish, we ended up staying longer than we expected. The dessert platter was worth the price, fresh fruit, flavoursome desserts and dry ice to set it off! My sister thoroughly enjoyed her birthday treat, I highly recommend the No.2 shisha. Also, a massive shout out to our waiter Saeed who looked after us all night and was on hand if we needed anything. An asset to the team!
