The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. We have dined here several times but this was really an outstanding experience. Everything was delicious, served professionally and the noise level was comfortable. I had the special arugula corn and avocado salad, followed by the duck breast with figs. I loved the large slices instead of the usual many thin slices. It was tender and juicy. The figs were marinated and out of this world. I shared the warm bread pudding with my husband. Delicious. The only negative was the espresso. Watery and tasteless. Our friends loved their meal as well. We enjoyed the whole thing so much we stayed 3 hours!
