- SShelleyvipLos Angeles •56 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoYet again, Tar and Roses does not disappoint. From the service to the food to the mock tails everything was wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We were celebrating my daughters 20th birthday and they brought us delicious desserts. I think I would be happy if I could eat here every night, thank you Tar and Roses for another wonderful eveningMore infoTar & RosesPrice: Expensive• American• Santa Monica•4.9

We had a large table of 10 people and one person canceled - they had no issue with this and didn't require a deposit, but they did include a service charge which was totally sensible. A bit dark in the covered patio area, so you may need your phones to read the menus, but otherwise very lovely, large, airy setting and nicely heated. We had an early reservation, so it wasn't as noisy/bustling as I've seen it before. They were out of a couple of things on the drink menu - maybe not as stocked up due to the less busy holiday weekend? We had the seafood tower, multiple starters and sides, in addition to a variety of their mains and everything had really balanced flavors and textures. I even really enjoyed the lamb and I'm normally not that into lamb. Highly recommend for a large group for dinner. They do have a dessert menu that looked interesting but we did not try it (my favorite Wanderlust ice cream shop is nearby so we did that instead). Wait staff was very patient despite some of our indecisive guests, lol. Everyone was able to find street parking close by (but it was an early dinner on a holiday weekend).More infoThe Rose VenicePrice: Expensive• American• Venice•4.5
- DDanLos Angeles •7 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoGreat food! Great service! Rico was a great server. Did Thanksgiving there tonight and plan to do it again. Moist sliced turkey, with their signature Brussel sprouts and all the trimmings, including stuffing, mashed taters and a perfect cranberry sauce. We’ve been several times and the food has always been stellar, with one small exception being the pumpkin Oreo cheesecake, which was a bit hard and dry on the top layer of cheesecake. But Rico made it right by treating us to the chocolate lava cake with salted caramel sauce over vanilla ice cream, which was the bomb! Perfectly indulgent.More info1212 Santa MonicaPrice: Expensive• Californian• Santa Monica•4.6
- NNaomivipLos Angeles •79 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoWe ate lunch at the Penthouse on Thanksgiving day. The restaurant was fully staffed and the service was very attentive. The prix fixe meal was delightful from starters, to entrees, and to desserts, with a platter of traditional side dishes as well. There were excellent choices for the vegetarians, and a spectacular view of the coast from the 16th floor. Of special note were the butternut squash soup, the pumpkin ravioli, the maitaki mushrooms, and the salted caramel cheesecake, each adorned with creative and scrumptious embellishments. We were grateful for this beautiful meal.More infoThe Penthouse RestaurantPrice: Expensive• Contemporary American• Santa Monica•4.6
