- KKenNew York City •1 review5.0Dined 1 day agoWent to meet my longtime friend at Terrain in Westport Connecticut today. Upon entering, I thought I was walking into a terrarium of sorts. I didn’t even realize it was a restaurant. walking past the beautiful decorations I saw lots of smiling faces; waiters and patrons. I sat down and was offered a drink right away. The menu was clean and elegantly designed. I liked how it was not overwhelming, but still had a nice range of options. The prices were great considering how lavish the decor was. I don’t think there was anything over $30 But the average I would say was $15. My friend ordered the grilled cheese and I got a medium well burger with aïoli dressing, bacon on top and a side of fries. I was really impressed with the quality of the meat combined with the juiciness of the burger. You never know what you’re gonna get when you Order medium well. The waiters were always on hand and ready to serve, but never gave us the feeling they were trying to rush us out. But we were there after the lunch rush so I don’t know what it’s like during the busiest times. Couple of lattes and we were ready to go. Was excited to explore the other areas of the place. I felt like I was at the botanical gardens with a restaurant growing out of it. It would be a great place to eat when the weather would allow outdoor seating. Besides our kind waitress, a hostess by the name of Teresa, came by to check on us. She appeared to be a nature-loving enthusiast with an artistic bent. She turned me on to a Portuguese author whom I’m interested in reading. Overall, my friend and I had a great time and now planning on returning the last Thursday of this month. There’s a lot more to experience there not only in food, but in shopping. I could easily drop $1000 at the store, considering all the unique things on display. No hesitation, offering up five stars for Terrain ! After you check it out, send me your comments. Would love to hear from you. @HEARTmyMINDMore infoTerrain Cafe – WestportPrice: Moderate• Contemporary American• Westport•4.7

We don’t tecall what day of the eeek we were there. We were delighted in our visit today,Sunday, as the music was not too loud and diners did not have to shout to be heard across the table. The soft lighting was perfect and the service was terrific. The food was so good, we’ve decided to return sometime soon!More infoThe CottagePrice: Expensive• Contemporary American• Westport•4.7
- KKatieConnecticut •1 review5.0Dined 6 days agoAnother great meal at Millwright's. My husband and I celebrated both of our birthdays here on a Friday night on the bridge. Our table was ideal, overlooking the waterfall. They have done an amazing job enclosing the bridge and making it warm and cozy and not jamming too many tables in there. Service was perfect throughout. We were wared that entrees were taking an hour, but our meal was very well paced. We started with shrimp cocktail and a cocktail. We had wine with dinner, which was duck breast for my husband and Lamb shepherds pie for me. Both were excellent. Dessert was a banana sticky toffee pudding, which was very good - but not quite as good as Gordon Ramsey's :) Millwright's offers plenty of vegan options and, for the service and ambiance you get, I think the food is priced very well. Except one steak, everything was under $40.More infoMillwright's RestaurantPrice: Expensive• American• Simsbury•4.8
- CCatherineNew York City •1 review5.0Dined 7 days agoHad 1 pm reservations for a Friday lunch and were seated promptly. Dining room was full which was a sign of its popularity. The dining room was nicely decorated and the table settings and tablecloths were a quality touch. Nathan, our server was exceedingly polite and welcoming: a professional in all respects. We ordered the Chicken pot pie. I noticed that no side salad was available on the menu and asked Nathan if one were available. He said it wasn’t a problem at all and the side salads provided were perfect. The pot pie was served in a a tall, cup-like dish, sitting in a lower, wider dish, topped with a puff-pastry biscuit on top. We actually weren’t sure how to eat it and Nathan explained we should remove the pastry, pour the pot pie into the larger dish, and put the pastry on top. The instructions were very helpful and given in such a way as to not embarrass us, much to Nathan’s credit. The pot pie was delicious with generously-sized portions of white meat. We ordered a side of breads, a small basket with a variety of rolls. All were freshly made and tasty. We finished with apple pie a la mode. The pie was also freshly-made and delicious, with a fluffy crust totally different than mass-produced pies. Red Lion is definitely worth the visit: both the food and staff are exceptional and the Inn is just full of character.
