---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

The chicken spätzle soup was perfect on a cold day! Really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy substitute, and even the creamed spinach was delicious!

We went for Valentine’s Day and it didn’t go well at all. We went for steaks but they were out and didn’t tell us until we ordered. The chef found a couple rib eyes which was great. Unfortunately they served our steak to another table and I sat for 2 hours while my other half ate. It was awkward just sitting there watching everyone eat. I have to admit the restaurant owned the issue, apologized profusely, comped the whole meal and gave me a $200 gift certificate. I had my meal wrapped up when it finally came and we left. I understand things happen and I’m very happy how they handled it. The steak was delicious when I finally ate it at home. In other news, it was LOUD and the communal tables put people on top of each other but a couple next to us was our biggest champion getting comped.

We went for an intended game of curling and a lunch, but cut ourselves off after the appetizers. The curling was fun, it’s a slightly smaller court and there are no brooms involved, but it’s still the heavy stones. The game and strategy is more like bocce than I expected. The person attending the courts helped us keep score which was nice. Then after the session we went intending for lunch. We got the pretzel and it was not only overcooked but also seemed stale. (Like it was heated for the second time.) The beer on tap was good but it was at this point we cut the meal short.
