The Gabriel Archer Tavern was built in 1987 on footprints of an old farm shed. Today, its mission is to provide a memorable farm-to-table dining experience that's both delicious and nourishing.

In addition to a half-acre produce garden and greenhouse on site where lettuces and herbs will be grown, our chef works hard to find local farmers as partners in producing a menu oriented towards fresh and seasonal specialties.

Our wide variety of fresh selections from our unique menu will guarantee that everyone in your party leaves with a smile.

First time visiting here and was looking forward to a good meal based on the menu. We arrived and were promptly seated at a nice table and warmly greeted by our waiter. After ordering a few drinks and appetizers we ordered our entrees. The mussels and squash soup were very good. The soup had just the right kick (red pepper) and was excellent. Our entrees consisted of the hanger steak, pork chop and halibut. The hanger steak was cooked to perfection but the pork chop was cooked a little too long and a bit dry; although covered in a creamy mustard seed sauce, it was still dry. The halibut was a nice portion and flaked apart well but the bed of fennel with blood oranges was disappointing. The fennel was cold and flavorless. The restaurant offers wines from its own winery so I decided to try the red wine flight and it was okay. For full disclosure, I’m not a fan of Virginia wines and these wines did nothing to change my humble opinion. Overall, dinner was good but I won’t be rushing back when I return to Williamsburg.

When you visit colonial Williamsburg find a way to get to the Gabriel Archer Tavern. Everything was exceptional and we had an experience to remember.

Food and service were both top-notch when we were there for lunch. One of our favorite restaurants in the Williamsburg area.
