Grünauer offers a classic Viennese gasthaus menu in the beautiful, historic Freighthouse. Located just north of Union Station in KC's premier dining and arts neighborhood- The Crossroads, Grünauer has been serving authentic Austrian and Central European cuisine since 2010 (with a focus on German and Hungarian as well). A beautiful biergarten, a gorgeous full bar and a lofted event space all add to the ambience and character of this KC classic. Make your reservation today! Classic dishes such as Hungarian beef gulasch (goulash), wiener schnitzel, apple strudel and more are always available. Frequent seasonal changes to our menu allow us to incorporate local produce, hiqh quality proteins and other items that are not available year round.

      Food was excellent. Service was efficient, but maybe a bit indifferent. I don't know anything about Austrian wines, so I would hope for a little guidance in selecting a bottle. But there was very little forthcoming from out waiter. But overall, it was a nice dinner. Goulash, spaetzle, and weinerschnitzel were standouts. And the cheese strudel for dessert.

      KC has a lot to offer in restaurants but you won’t find any other like this one! The menu changes every few months and the variety is wide for any taste buds. We love the atmosphere and the presentation of the foods. I can tell the servers like it here too as we often get the same ones for years now.

      The food was just okay, nothing to write home about. The cutlet was dry. I think the coffee cost $5 , though it is a cold day and they weren't busy, they never offered a refill. The soup was delicious. There are just so many great restaurants in Kansas City, I probably won't go back to this one.

      We had a great dinner along with the delicious desserts. We had a nice Riesling to go with dessert and dinner. AJ was our server and he was perfect, attentive suggestive of popular items on the menu

      Waitress said my girlfriend misordered. But Actually , Accidently, they switched plates with another table. No biggie. But She could have apologized.

      This was our first time to Grunauer. The food was delicious, and I tried a sparkling non-alcoholic citrus tea that was wonderful! It's a beautiful building - the ambience was perfect. And our waitress, Kia, was charming and very attentive. We'll be back!

      This is one of my very favorite restaurants, (we always enjoy dining here) so decided to celebrate my birthday with their Jagerschnitzel. It was delicious, as was all the food we ordered. Also appreciated the lovely strudel treat which made my evening even more special. Thank you!
