Because of Covid-19 We hadn't been to Hoku's in 5 years. It was therefore, a treat for us to visit the restaurant. All in all, the experience was a very pleasant one. The ambiance is what one goes for. With a view of the beach below, if it is a beautiful day, it is relaxing ad very conducive to having a delicious meal and drinks. The food is very good. Presentation is excellent and though quantity may be lacking a little, the flavors are innovative and interesting. However, when one thinks of value, the question becomes is the price worth the whole experience. In my humble opinion, the value is not there. The prices are exorbitantly high for what you get. Service was very nice but could have been better. A drink came 20 minutes after it had been ordered---was tempted to cancel and leave. One server was friendly and welcoming, another was sullen but polite. For a classy place, something lacked. The restaurant was not crowded---perhaps a third full---so poor service cannot be attributed to it being busy. However, for a $$$$ restaurant, the value was not worth the price.
