Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House opened its doors in February 1997 in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, next to sister restaurant Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Over 20 years after owners Hugo Ralli and Steve Lombardo set out to open the city's finest seafood restaurant, Hugo's continues to be the destination for premier east and west coast oysters, crudos, frog legs, lobster and seasonal fish and shellfish, in addition to Gibsons Prime Angus and Gibsons Grassfed Australian steaks. Food was very bland and flavorless to be honest. Not enough chat or salt or seasoning on the steak. Not enough dressing in the salad. Not enough bacon and glaze on the sprouts.

Everything was wonderful. The soup was delicious BUT...it was Luke warm... But it was still a delicious dinner.

Food is always excellent as is the service. Calm vibe made for a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon lunch preceded by a drink at the bar. Very attentive waitstaff.

What a wonderful experience dining at Hugo! The steak, salmon, and pork chops were all outstanding! It was cooked to perfection! The service was phenomenal!

Our server was nice and attentive, made several suggestions. The food was horrible!!! We ordered fried calamari which was undercooked and had barely any breading. We also ordered the mussels in red sauce, they were barely warm. It seemed as if the appetizers were already prepared and possibly kept near a heating lamp. We did not bother to finish them. My main entree was the scallops which were in some wine sauce that was tasteless, the scallops were undercooked and not tasty. I only ate 2 of the 6 that were on the plate. Prices were your average. It was our first visit there and the only reason I booked dinner at Hugo's Frog Bar & Chop House - Des Plaines was because we attended a concert there. We will certainly never want to eat there again because the food was not at all what I was expecting. It was a very disappointing dining experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
