   Metro Valet attendants lost our key fob. We had to drive one of the attendant's car back home to retrieve the spare. Ruined our night.

   Like it usually is, the meal at J. Gilbert's was...fine. Nothing special, nothing wonderful, but it's largely a warm, friendly atmosphere, and the food is more-or-less consistent. Kind of like a higher-end Applebee's (and no, I'm not joking). Our server was friendly and accommodating. Food-wise, my filet, medium, was quite dry, my mashed potatoes were dry, and my mushrooms seemed a bit overcooked--almost as if everything had been prepared in advance and was just sitting in chafing dishes or under heat lamps until it was ordered and served. Additionally, something's going on with the lighting in the dining room that is detracting from the ambiance. It looks like, as bulbs have burned out in various ceiling fixtures, some have been replaced with cold, high-color-temperature bulbs, casting a harsh blue-ish light in some areas of the restaurant. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you're probably not the person who should be in charge of procuring and installing replacement bulbs.

   This is a "dependable workhorse" of a restaurant! Food is consistently good, service is always top-notch and good cocktails, too. Nothing "adventurous", but really good food, usually available at last minute and never disappoints.

   The food, as usual, was Great! But my server disregarded my request and messed up my meal. I did. Ot complain because that would have resulted in having to wait for a new meal. The manager did come by and inquire, which was very nice. I will return I like the restaurant. But today's server needs to check the dishes before they are delivered. That was a SERVER issue not a Kitchen issue.

    The mixed grill was excellent and my dining companion said that the French Dip was the best she had ever had. Overall, lovely lunch experience.
