    Excellence all the way! New Years day lunch here was perfect, it was a warm and quiet environment to have a very enjoyable lunch and friendly private conversation. Thank you!

    The flavor of the steaks were good and cooked to the correct temp… however I was looking for a thicker cut steak- so that was a little disappointing. Potatoes au gratin are yum! Cooked well with each layer seasoned just right.. but the amount of asparagus was sparse. Carrot cake was the highlight with the pecan praline filling a different innovation (at least to me! Tasted like a molassss filling) that was surprisingly very pleasant… Could have always used more of that cream anglaise though. Thank you for a lovely time

    We have been going to J. Gilbert’s for more than 3 decades. The service is always impeccable and food unbelievable. Service was the worst we’ve ever had. We sat for 15 minutes with no greeting, no water, no server, no bread, nothing. The family behind us already had appetizers by the time we had to flag someone down to service us. Unacceptable. The waiter was either not trained or poorly trained. He did not come to check on us and we had to flag him down each time we needed waiter or a drink. He forgot into even out the order in for our refills and then that was another 20 minutes. He did not clear the table or remove wine glasses - when our appetizers and meals finally came there was no space on the table for the runners to place them. We had to ask him to remove them - three times. His excuse was that they were busy but they were not. There was no ownership of anything. Even down to the check he messed up applying an unused $100 gift card and ran our card for an incorrect amount. The manager was called over which we never do, and he made it right, but definitely a bad experience. Thank goodness the food standards are still in place - our meals were amazing. The sharp change in service standards is concerning, especially for the reputation and high prices.

    Dinner reservations at 7:00pm with my family. Ordered rib eye, lamb chops and crab cakes. Ribeye and lab were requested medium. Rib eye was tuff and chewy and lab chops were too rare to eat.
