Tucked away in a brownstone on the Upper West Side, La Boite en Bois has been a favorite among diners since 1985. Family owned and operated, our attentive and well-trained staff will be sure to provide you with a memorable experience. As seen on Seinfeld, we are a short walk from Central Park, Lincoln Center, NYC Ballet, and the Metropolitan Opera.

With its rustic ambiance, diners are made to feel as though they are in a bistro in the French countryside. Serving classics from Escargot to Salmon to Roasted Duck to Mussels, you will be delighted with our extensive selections. We serve lunch everyday, with a variety of salads, soups, panini, and classic French dishes, such as Croque Monsieur, Seafood Crepes and Onion Soup. Come Saturday and Sunday for our Brunch, and enjoy Eggs Benedict, French Toast or a La Boite Burger.

We've dined at this restaurant occasionally for over 40 years. Our recent dinner was our first there in over a year and we think it's now under new ownership or management. That said, we're pleased to report the food remains very good although prices have gone up, but not unreasonably. There used to be a midweek prix fixe and that doesn't appear to be offered anymore, but otherwise most aspects are unchanged. The tables are still uncomfortably close together and having a conversation remains difficult if the place (which is tiny) is full. Still, it's a good choice for pre-Lincoln Center events. As noted, the food is good and the service swift and competent.

Good old school French bistro fare. Tables too close and thus too noisy. Too crowded.

Location is best for Lincoln Center, real traditional French bistro. Tight seating but satisfied customers returning for the food and service. Reservations necessary. Reasonable wine list, limited vegetarian, large portions, daily specials.

Great authentic food. I gave 4 stars for ambience because it's so small and tight. I'm from out of town, but this would be a regular spot if I was local.

Such a lovely classic French bistro. Beautiful food and excellent service in a tiny but charming space. Perfect pre-theatre / Lincoln Center.
