We are centrally located off Hwy. 101 in San Rafael, across for the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Marin Civic Center. La Toscana is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant and bar located in Marin County. It was established in 1985 by Paolo Mori, his wife, Marilyn, and Michele Quilici. The owners all grew up in Lucca, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1950s. They wanted to create an atmosphere that reminded them of home – a place where locals would gather to eat, meet friends and family and celebrate with food and wine as every Italian family does. Chef and co— owner Giovanni Racanello joined La Toscana in 1986. Paolo and Marilyn’s daughter, Laura Mori Riella, and youngest son, Michael Mori, joined the La Toscana team in 1992 and 2002, respectively. Paolo loved to make people feel welcome and, just like all the Moris, enjoyed his food and wine and loved to see others do the same. This is the proud tradition that La Toscana carries on.

La Toscana never disappoints. The food , service , and bar and wine list keep me coming back. Frito Miso appetizer were excellent as was my Tortalini with ceramic and peas..

Great lunch experience: delicious food, pleasant service. It would be ideal to get a water/tea refill, but all in all, it’s fantastic. I’ll definitely return.

Always a good choice! Great appetizers, entrees and desserts! Not to mention wines!!! The service is great too. Polite young men that are diligent and care about the job they do. The remodel is beautiful. Who doesn’t want to dine with Florence, Italy all around you!?

Delicious from start to finish, great plates, great dessert. Get things while you can as they had several items they sold out of! Would and will return!

Excellent northern Italian food. Frito Misto - calamari was very tender good with the artichokes. Delicious ravioli with cheese, spinach, and sage butter sauce…also the papparadelle with cinghiale sauce. Nice wine selection. Mini cannoli just the right size after a delicious dinner.

Very crowded during standard dinner hour (600-700) and then quieted down after 800. Servers did their best to keep up with the orders, overall very good and definitely worth the wait. Food was excellent and generous portions of foods. Six diners with six different entrees all delicious. I had the osso bucco it is a must have if on their specials, served on an overly generous bowl of polenta was one of the best I have had anywhere. Great wine list with a good selection of domestic and Italian wines We were too full for dessert!!
