Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. This was my first time here. The food was outstanding! I had the seared duck and it was cooked to perfection. The service could have been better, but I can overlook that due to the quality of the meal. Due to the dining area being narrow and small, you can expect things to be noisy. I highly recommend.

What a wonderful experience from start to finish. Welcomed warmly at the door. Arrived early and they sat us right away. Everyone who brought or removed something from our table was very professional. Our drinks, meal, and dessert were incredible. Our waitress went above and beyond to make our time there amazing. We never had to ask for anything. The service was awesome. Highly recommend dining there.

Went with a large group of friends so we may have contributed to an increase in noise level! But we did sit in the bar, so hopefully didn’t disrupt anyone’s quiet meal. Food was excellent. Service was a bit slow, but they didn’t have a lot of help that night so our waitress did a great job for having to take care of so many tables. We had fun, enjoyed our meals, and will come back!
