I don't remember the last time we dined at State and Main. All I can say is that it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in such a long time. Not only was the food absolutely delicious and the value incredible, but the staff were just phenomenal. I wish I knew the name of the lady that took care of our table. She was truly the sweetest girl ever! If the restaurant reads this review and can provide her name, please tell her we said Thank you, it would mean so much to us. She made the experience that much better than it already was. Thank you State and Main for such an amazing family day out!!!

Absolutely Outstanding! The service at The Common Stove is hands down the best I’ve experienced in a long time. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. The food? Absolutely amazing—every dish was crafted to perfection. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the owners. They are incredibly genuine and clearly prioritize both their guests and their team. It’s refreshing to see a business where the owners trust their staff to do their jobs without micromanaging, and it shows in the seamless, top-tier experience they provide. Highly recommend!

Lovely place for a date! Was kindly welcomed and seated, and promptly served. The food was outstanding! I had the hanger steak with truffle fries and local mushrooms, the steak arrived medium rare as requested and the chimichurri complemented the steak very well. My date got the pasta of the day which she enjoyed as well. The drinks and desserts should not be missed either. The house cocktails were very nice and the creme brulee and chocolate mousse were phenomenal. I generally dont go for desserts but the mousse was so good youd be foolish not to try it.

This is my girlfriends and mine favourite spot in Barrie, we like it because it seems almost like a hidden gem, it’s always packed so it’s clearly not hidden, but we love the patio in the summer. We always have a great experience. Very sad to hear this location is closing temporarily, and we will have to find a new location for the summer. We find also the park place vibes to be too noisy with the amount of traffic from the highway right beside, we try to avoid restaurants in this area. Fingers crossed that you can replicate the same atmosphere in the south end, you will be missed in the North end. Thank you for many great memories. Only complaint from our last visit, my girlfriend got the vegan tacos with tortilla chips and there was only 6-7 chips on the plate. Usually there is 2-2.5 times as many.
