The wine list is based on wines from around the world with a good selection by the glass. We also have an excellent selection of beers and local cask ales.In 2021 The Wheatsheaf was a new entry in The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastro Pubs and was also awarded The Michelin Red Plate. Red Dog is an authentic Bar and American BAR-B-Q restaurant, serving 18-hour roast ribs, brisket, aged chuck steak burgers and much more, all best enjoyed with tasty cocktails or milkshakes.Barbeque grew up in the South of the USA where cooks learned to slow roast cuts of meat over fire pits to make them tender. Exposure to the smoke of the smouldering wood added a distinctive smoky and juicy taste to the meat. Our award-winning smokers have been imported from the USA and are built to recreate the cooking process of those original fire pits. We use the traditional American woods of hickory and mesquite to give a full smoke flavour, and the meat stays in the smoker for up to 18 hours.

We always book a table here during our annual holiday to Rutland and would highly recommend a visit. The food is exceptional and is a very reasonable price, given the food quality and standard of service. When you arrive you are greeted by the smell of the home-made bread that is baked every day and everyone gets this to begin, along with some flavoured dipping oil and speciality butter. Today's butter was sea salt and seaweed. Scott, Carol and their team make you feel at ease and provide efficient and unobtrusive service, whilst maintaining a casual feel. We had booked for our wedding anniversary and we found a handwritten card waiting on out table, a nice personal touch. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

Pleasant ambience. Attentive and friendly service. Clear well-organised menu of mostly french dishes. Excellent allergy advice if needed. Food well-presented and tasted good, though not exceptional. Cheese options outstanding. Maybe I'd give 4 1/2 stars if I could.
