Tangaroa Fish Market and Raw Bar is a New Zealand (Kiwi) themed fresh seafood market and restaurant. It gets its name from one of the Maori gods, Tangaroa, who is the god of the Oceans (similar to Poseidon in Greek mythology). Maoris are the native people of New Zealand, which is The owner's heritage. Culturally our fish market is unique, as it's New Zealand themed flavored with a Maori touch, which includes some of the great fresh seafood directly from New Zealand's shores.

In 1962, Johnny Harlowe made the jump from the silver screen to chef and owner of Dear John’s. Convinced by his pal Frank Sinatra, Johnny opened the iconic spot just a ways down from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd. It became the watering-hole for the Hollywood elite with Sinatra often in the corner playing the piano against the dark brick walls once lined with portraits of famous John’s. Seasoned chefs and entrepreneurs Hans Röckenwagner and Josiah Citrin have teamed up to re-open Dear John’s with an updated classic American menu and old-school cocktail list.

Inspired by the zinc countertop bars & cafés of Paris, many of its customers consider it a second home—a place to work, linger & socialize. The Butcher's Daughter is a great place for vegetarian / vegan food. We went to the. Abbot Kinney location, which is always a fun area to bop around. They offer many great options in different types of preparations, for example fried calamari made from mushrooms, vegan pizza, pad thai, on and on. We tried lots of things I'd never had before. Cocktails were great too. Only little thing was they are very serious about closing time and all four of us felt that sort of crept up on us sort of suddenly. But a great time, we'll be back.

We had a wonderful dinner (business meeting). Fortunately, we were able to get a table in the back as the noise in the front room was loud (ok LOUD). The food was delicious, the service was superb and the ambiance was nice. The restaurant was jammed on a Wednesday night. That in and of itself is a positive review.
