Based in Greetham, The Wheatsheaf is 6 miles from Oakham and 4 miles from Rutland Water. Carol and Scott took over the Wheatsheaf in March 2008. The seasonal Modern British menu changes weekly. The wine list is based on wines from around the world with a good selection by the glass. We also have an excellent selection of beers and local cask ales.In 2021 The Wheatsheaf was a new entry in The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastro Pubs and was also awarded The Michelin Red Plate. We had 11 tapas between four of us. Some qualified for the lunch special deal so we had bread included. Bread was delicious and essential to make the most of the various sauces. We’ve been many times before and once again we were not disappointed. We each have our favourites like the lentils/chorizo and the Gambas al ajillo. Some new ones made it to top of the list : blue cheese croquetas, cauliflower and the baked goat’s cheese(this was a special for the day). We will return with no hesitation.

Mixed Salad needs a more precise description. Sun dried tomatoes and pickled onion is not for everyone. The cold Burrata cheese is strange on hot Pizza. Not sure what can be done to improve that? Other than that we had a lovely meal.

Fabulous food as always. Service is just the right level - attentive without hovering. Party ranged from 11 to 84 & something for everyone on the main menu. Highly recommended.
