Restaurants near Grand Parade

Of all the restaurants we ate at while in Halifax, The Press Gang was the best. The atmosphere was rustic yet felt upscale. Even though the dress code is ‘casual’ most patrons were dressed business casual or smart casual, which was nice. The blackened steak was delicious. The seafood risotto was well seasoned without overpowering the seafood flavours. I would say the service was a bit slow considering the restaurant was not busy, but it did not take away from the evening. Absolutely recommended.

Everything we ordered was so good. The vegan menu did not disappoint. Service was fast and polite.

Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable. If she didn’t know the answer she was happy to go find out for us! The food came out extremely fast and hot. Our server never left us waiting to order another beverage and the drinks arrived fast. We had such a wonderful experience! We highly recommend this establishment. We are all current or past servers and we were all so impressed. Thank you for a wonderful evening celebrating our friend’s birthday!

First time dining at the Five Fishermen in Halifax. We are visiting from Saskatchewan and had always wanted to spend an evening there. Our experience exceeded our expectations. The ambience was amazing. Kristen - our waitress - was wonderful. We had 2 Celiacs (must eat gluten free) at our table and she really went above and beyond to guide us through the menu and ensure that our meals were prepared safely. Most items were gluten free. We shared 2 appetizers between the 4 of us. For our main meals - and because they were out of fresh lobsters - she had the chef create a lovely gluten free lobster and scallop risotto for two of us - which wasn't on the menu...but was fantastic. The men had steak and a burger. I had a glass of wine and the men had 2 draft beer each. For $249.99 plus tip, that was a great experience and more than worth the cost. If I could rate this place 10 stars I would. Highly, highly recommend. Will return the next time I'm in town. Cheers from Saskatchewan!!
