Restaurants near Horsepen Mountain

The Varsity Club gave us a great meal in terms of food. The She Crab Soup was good and full of crab. The Schoolhouse Salad was a great salad. We had the pork chop and trout. Both were excellent. The only negative was the service. I’m pretty sure there was only one server for the entire restaurant and the dining room was about 80% full. There were definitely some assistants, but only one woman was taking orders, etc. we waited 27 minutes before our order was taken. Food was great. But there need to be several more servers.

Well anytime we go to Frankie Rowlands we expect to pay top dollar and usually the service, food, and ambience combined make it a great experience and this time was no exception. My wife had the 7oz filet which was cooked to perfection, while I had the Chilean Sea Bass for the first time and it was just outstanding. We also had the crab dip appetizer which without a doubt is the best in Virginia. Place was buzzing being close to the Holidays but the entire staff was at the top of their game. Great experience!!!!

Made the reservation for our Hokie’s graduation. Wonderful place enhanced by Christmas decorations, lighting and smells. Excellent service and wonderful food

Great food, attentive wait staff and a soft, cozy ambience. A very nice way to celebrate the newest college grad in our family!

Grant is an excellent and well mannered server. We enjoyed having Grant wait our table.
