Thank you for visiting Kenichi Izakaya Carbondale. An Izakaya is a type of informal Japanese pub. At sake breweries during the late 18th century, people in Japan began using sake kegs as stools, and snacks were served. This small plate menu was designed to encourage sharing amongst friends and family. Food is prepared in multiple kitchens and arrives as it is ready to ensure freshness. The Winery Restaurant has been an icon among western Colorado restaurants for over 35 years. The restaurant makes its home in a 95 year old building that used to house a horse drawn fire station. A gas lamp lit, grapevine canopied alley frames this romantic location perfectly. I just want to give a huge shoutout to the amazing team at IZAKAYA for an unforgettable experience. The service was absolutely top notch so attentive and welcoming and the food? Out of this world! Every bite was packed with incredible flavors that totally blew us away. From the presentation to the vibe of the place, you can tell there’s so much heart and passion behind it all. My friend and I frequent Devil's Kitchen often. This time we ordered the salmon entree, had it blackened, along with a wine pairing. Both were cooked to perfection with a great presentation. The salmon melted in our mouths and the top was crispy as requested. We plan to comeback again and again. Our server, Terra, greeted us immediately with a smile and waters, then took our drink orders. The food arrived in a timely manner and Terra checked on us to bring more drinks, refill waters and asked if our entrees were cooked to order. We also saw her helping fellow employees. The supervisor on duty, Heather, also checked on us and we observed her seating customers, taking out food and bussing tables. What a team player!
