La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

Really excellent food and service. We went there before the theater and they served us promptly but did not rush us. They’re a well oiled machine.

Absolutely exceeded expectations. The staff managed the very busy restaurant exceptionally. Our service was unmatched, and the food was amazing. Our server was clear on the portion size. The dishes serve 2-3 people. We planned accordingly and still had leftovers. This restaurant is a must dine for NYC.

A lovely welcome from start to finish, first visit & the Carmine way was explained to avoid us over ordering our waitress Marianne was informative, friendly & warm. A wholesome portion of mozzarella topped garlic bread to share between two of us, the portion was huge & delicious - we were unable to finish the dish. The lasagne was to die for, tasty & hearty but again too big for the two of us & we can normally eat well. I can honestly say we have officially been Carmined, recommended by fellow Brits & I will be returning with my experience & recommending to fellow travellers, thank you Carmines x

I have a child with Celiac Disease so finding restaurants that are knowledgeable about safe food handling practices and offer a variety of meal options is so important. I'd heard many good things about Friedmans so was excited to try this restaurant during our city excursion. We made a reservation to be safe, but imagine we'd have been seated quickly even without as it was breakfast and not later in the day. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Our server was attentive and food was delivered quickly. It was breakfast so I'll say the food was just fine - we didn't order anything fancy. The prices were a little high, but it's Times Square and these days all restaurants are pricey. The location is nice - although I miss the pink walls of the old Edison Diner, I love that there were still some of the old details in place that you could enjoy some of that history.
