Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

Amazing experience at King’s Arms Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg. We made reservations for dinner before the Grand Illumination. We were seated quickly in one of the quaint rooms and had attentive service. The food was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. We enjoyed the fife and drums playing outside as well as two strolling artists who played in the different dining rooms. Once our meal was finished, we walked outside to enjoy the fireworks which were seen perfectly outside the restaurant! Although expensive, it was a special and lovely family holiday experience!!

Berret’s is one of the best restaurants in Williamsburg with a great location adjacent to Merchant’s Square, in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. We had a festive lunch before attending a Christmas show at the Kimball Theater conveniently located across the Berret’s parking lot. The seafood options are amazing and the other menu choices will satisfy all diners. The servers are wonderful professionals who have found a home at Berret’s so you can ask for your favorite server each time you go. We especially enjoy Channing because of her great sense of humor, professionalism and knowledge of the menu.

The restaurant from the outside appears unobtrusive and understated but once you enter the glass doors, you enter a charming space. Lots of character, elegant French country. We were immediately welcomed by a friendly host and because one had the sense of being in France I was taken aback when he spoke with a southern accent! Too funny. Our table was in a room with a large fireplace and the seats were cushioned and extremely comfortable. Noise level low to moderate. Our server Breanna was upbeat, had a great sense of humor and checked on our table frequently. The service was professional, our food came out in a timely manner and we never felt rushed. The menu was exceptional and for the quality, very reasonably priced. Appetizers averaged $10-15, entree $35-50 and dessert $10-15. A couple of outliers on the higher end such as the $30 foie gras starter and the $65 beef tenderloin seared with foie gras in a truffle port wine reduction. The entrees included a soup or salad and our portions were decent. A glass of brut rose champagne $12 and 12 oz of Caymus cab. $39. Other 6-12oz wines much cheaper. The manager came over to our table and spoke with us. She was charming. The chef.she told us is from Normandy which comes as no surprise as the meal was superbe. We were a party of six and every plate I noticed was completely clean at the end— not a drop leftover. I highly recommend this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, or just to have excellent French food in a comfortable warm and inviting setting. Would go back again and again!
