The restaurant boast some wonderful bespoke ironwork along with a vintage industrial feel . Called in for an early breakfast on New Year's Day morning. We were greeted with a friendly welcome, as always. Today was Paul, but all the staff make us feel welcome. Breakfast was served hot and quickly, and as always with top quality products. A good start to 2025 at The Royal for us 😊

We had really nice Christmas lunch. Food was great, as were the staff. Also a good atmosphere, with music and everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. Hadn't been before, so will be good to go back when it's warmer and have a look around the marina at the same time.

We both chose the set menu. 3 courses with good options was excellent value for money. The prawn cocktail was particularly good. The highlight was the sticky toffee dessert which I can honestly say is the best I have ever had. Choices for the main course were not overly exciting but beautifully presented. I opted for the haddock served in a cheese sauce which I enjoyed. The service was excellent, friendly but non intrusive. The dining room was full yet we were served promptly and made to feel welcome. The dining room itself is a special treat overlooking the lake.
