Restaurants near Kirklinton Hall and Gardens

We had a lovely meal of Annandale burgers. Tasted fantastic and really good value for money. Availed ourselves of the outstanding toilets, immaculate as ever, then bought my usual bottle of Peated Rascally from the shop. Once in the shop had an interesting discussion concerning peated malts and which is my favourite. The only issue is the number of people who came in the coffee shop to be turned away because they hadn’t booked. There were numerous tables empty with reserved on them which were still empty when we left. Perhaps if staff explained the tables were booked but if the person asking could vacate it before the person who reserved it arrived it would avoid a lot of dissatisfied customers leaving. At least 4 couples were turned away in a 30 minute period whilst we were eating who had made a special trip out to the distillery.

Delicious food. Lovely friendly service. Two and three course deal is excellent value.

Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe Menu- such a lovely choice of dishes, completely different to the normal Prix Fixe Lunch, I had vegetable tarte flambé , followed by goat’s cheese soufflé which was served with beetroot, walnuts and salad my chosen dessert was chocolate liegois, served with langues de chat biscuits. All three course were sublime and I enjoyed a kir aperitif followed by a glass of house rose wine accompany this special meal. My husband chose duck magre with salad and potato to start, followed by pork cheeks with pommes purée ( which he declared”melt in the mouth!)@ and he chose a dessert of. Pear and almond tart, served with crème fraiche, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed! We ended with our usual delicious espressos which provided the right touch for an exceptional lunch.. We have been visiting this “gem” of a restaurant for almost ten years now and it involves a round trip of almost forty miles! It is more than worth the travel!

A lovely setting, a variety of menu options and good service

Fantastic evening in this iconic country pub on the outskirts of Carlisle, in the quaint village of low Crosby. Warm welcome as always, great cozy atmosphere with friendly staff and great selection of real ales. Delicious flat iron steak cooked to perfection. Can’t recommend this establishment enough.
