Not my first time at Le Colonial but my first review. Relaxed ambiance with a Vietnamese theme. We were courteously seated and served, the service is as expected from a high-end dining experience. However, the food was the star of our dining experience. The mocktail lyche iced tea was 2 of 5 stars, probably wouldn’t order again. The chicken dumplings were amazing 10/10! Very flavorful accompanied by an equally tasty sauce. A definite must try. My first time trying pho which was delicious another 10/10. Crisp yet comforting broth flavors, perfect for the cold Chicago night. The crispy shrimp and pork rolls were also very good 8/10. For entrees, their specialty fried rice was excellent 10/10. The shaking beef was another favorite must try 10/10. Roasted salmon and chicken curry were good but not on par with our other menu choices, 6/10.

The food at RL Restaurant was absolutely amazing—every dish was perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. The ambiance was also beautiful, creating a lovely atmosphere for dining. However, I think it would benefit more if it were just reservations-only. It’s a small space, and it was overly crowded and quite loud, which took away from the otherwise great experience. With fewer walk-ins, it could be even more enjoyable for guests.

We had a reservation at 8 pm but got there a little early. They could not seat us right away. A table did not become available for sometime after 8 as well. Their waiting area was terrible almost non existent. Then they seated us by the door which had a cold draft blowing in every time someone walked in. Upon our request they were very quickly able to move us to another table luckily. The food was outstanding and so was the service. They have a complete vegetarian menu available too. Very flavorful perfectly prepared dishes.

Tzuco has become our go-to place for a splurge dinner out when visiting Chicago. The menu is grounded in tradition, but inventive - that’s especially true of the (substantial) starters. I’m still thinking about the mussels a day later. And the pulpo. And, well, everything. Oh, and definitely order the pibil cocktail! Service is warm, helpful and professional. They really, really want you to enjoy your meal.

Roberto was a great server. He was very knowledgeable of the entire menu and really made our experience memorable!
