The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Just one word- Amazing. We were all impressed with the all service and atmosphere and the food… wow. So kind and smiling staff, who take care for your comfort the whole time, the restaurant so shiny and fancy , you feel like a star⭐️😋 The food absolutely amazing , from the starters and the salad to the finger-licking good desserts . This is definitely the restaurant we’ll come to again .

I’ve been to maddogs & Englishman quite a few times over the last year and every single time I go, I have such a brilliant experience with all the different themes that they go for. I’m never disappointed and always thoroughly enjoy it. I think my friend and I will be making a yearly visit!!!

A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. My friend is vegan and they adapted a meal for them as well as going through the vegan options on the wine menu. Delicious food all round and a lovely atmosphere.
