Restaurants near Mauna Kea State Recreation Area

If you are hoping for a fine dining restaurant this isn’t for you. However, the food and service were good. We really enjoyed the sizzling mushrooms, Teriyaki steak and the dumplings.

Made a reservation here for our final meal on the island. Was told by multiple people that this is the best place to eat on the island. As a vegan I really appreciated the knowledge and help of our server Howard to accommodate me. My non-vegan family really enjoyed their meals too. Overall it was awesome. Pretty pricey but glad we got to try it.

Amazing. Great selections of local fish and meats. Best picks were miso butterfish, lamb , and Mac and cheese with bacon

I enjoyed our entire meal ❤️ the prime rib was tender, ahi poke seasoned to perfection, fresh poi the way I like it, helpful and friendly servers and overall very pleasant. Highly recommend.

One of a kind Christmas holiday experience. Very exclusive and one of a kind. The four courses were all designed to pair well with well with sake. The optional sake pairing was super interesting. I was surprised by how different these sakes were, though maybe that has to do with the host making suitable choices for my western tastebuds. Took a bottle of "Anna" home. It was well sealed and packed in bubble wrap, and arrived well as checked luggage (can't take this onboard).
