Jerk at Nite, founded by Denville Myrie, Jr. in 2012, began as a solution to the lack of late-night food options at Howard University. After seeing his peers struggle with unhealthy fast food, Denville, raised in a Jamaican household, started delivering flavorful jerk chicken and other Jamaican dishes from his dorm. What began as a small campus venture evolved into a food truck business in 2015, and later, a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Food was excellent. We were there at 3pm on a Saturday and there was only one server in the entire restaurant. He was dealing with impatient people, being double and triple-sat multiple times while we were there, and 10+ tables all on his own. So, overall, the service was slow. But, given the circumstances, our server deserves a medal! He was friendly, upbeat, and as attentive as humanly possible with more than 10 tables on his own.
