The Harwood Arms re-opened in September 2008 after some much needed refurbishment. This rural haven in the middle of Fulham is a collaboration between Brett Graham of the famed Ledbury restaurant, Mike Robinson of the acclaimed Pot Kiln pub in rural Berkshire and Edwin Vaux from the famous Vaux brewery. Our inspiration is the Zeus Faber… John Dory, one of many local fish that can be fished sustainably and from our shores and although it has a wonderful Latin come Greek name it also has a very British name, John Dory. Faber is the Latin word for ‘Smith’ – Like a few other Latin occupational names (e.g. Agricola for farmer, Nauta for sailor). Smith being the most common name in English we decided it sits well with our name as we want to be accessible to all and give everyday people the opportunity to be part of our journey and own the business they work in.What sets us apart is our commitment to working with local fishmongers who run out to the coast each evening to collect day-boat fish and local ingredients. This means that everything on our menu is fresh, sustainably sourced, and supports the local economy.We believe in creating dishes that are not only delicious but also ethical and responsible.

'The Crabtree, with its spectacular position downstream from The River Cafe,has a huge sprawling garden, a glazed colonnade and frontage on to theThames shaded by a weeping willow. The prawns in chilli hot oil and the toastspread with tomatoes and onions were good, so much so we ordered themagain when we returned for Sunday lunch. I booked for myself, baby and sister who flew over from Australia to enjoy a tasty English roast dinner. The staff were lovely, welcoming, helpful and very accommodating as soon as we walked in. They put us in the corner as my baby had fallen asleep, answered all of our questions about the menu, and offered me a lovely tea to end the delicious meal. Food was very tasty and just right to fill us up. Meal didn’t feel heavy and was full of flavour. Thank you for a lovely meal.

My wife had eaten here before and recommended we go for a quiet dinner after our respective long and busy days. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive and thankfully not obtrusive! Oysters were delicious, our main courses fantastic and the English wine selections are a great idea (and the Chardonnay a one to try!). Will definitely be back again. Thank you!

Enjoyed our dinner. Attentive service. Great gourmet pizza ( Southern Italy) and fresh salad (goat cheese/pear, rocket/balsamic vinegar and walnut). Although we miss the personalized attention we received from Marco, the original owner/manager and servers of the former owners 😕.
