Restaurants near Roxie Theater

We have been coming to the restaurant since its opening in 1998, me as recently as last October. We felt the kitchen has never been better. We shared anchovies with butter on toast, the spaghetti pomodoro (perfectly executed and still justifying its legend), the pesce del giornio (a 2 pound American snapper) and the insalata di campo (well sourced lettuces and on point dressing). An interesting red from Piemonte. Warm, well informed, attentive service. Still one of our very favorite restaurants anywhere. Will continue to be a highlight of any San Francisco visit. Already anticipating our next meal here.

Small plates were, as always, very good. We also ordered a whole steamed trout, which was fine, but not particularly memorable (a far better move would have been to have skipped the trout and gotten three more small plates instead). Also, as an off-menu option offered by our server when we ordered the Misoyaki grilled scallops, we took a caviar accompaniment, which I don't think I would do again (the scallops ($22) were great, while the thumbnail-sized portion of caviar ($15) didn't really elevate the dish that much. Restaurant was also a little bit cold this time, possibly because we were sitting closer to the door than in past visits.

The food and warm, attentive service make this restaurant the perfect place to unwind after a long day and ease into the weekend. The familiar faces of the manager and staff create a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that whatever went wrong at work fades away with every bite and sip.

Great food, great service. Parking was challenging, did not know where to go, perhaps add to the website. We will all go again!

This is a great spot if you need a quick bite or meal before heading to the Roxie -- fast and efficient. The food is very tasty!
