Maria Rondeau and JuanMa Calderón of Boston's award-winning Celeste (Eater Boston's 2018 Restaurant of the Year and Esquire Best New Restaurant) and Esmeralda in Vermont (Esquire's 2021 list of Best New Restaurant in America), open La Royal, their newest Peruvian restaurant down the block from their Cambridge home. Thanksgiving dinner was memorable. We ordered three of the main courses: turkey, venison, and steak. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. The suggested wine pairing went well with the dishes. Service was great, and the maïtre D made us feel truly at home. We were lucky to get the room with the gas fireplace--all in all a delicious and cozy experience. The restaurant made us feel like family!

What a wonderful way to start a Sunday. The food that was ordered was excellent, well cooked, looking good on the plate, and delicious. A lovely combination of items on the main course that we ordered, that was not big but had wonderful component parts. The service was excellent. There were many other intriguing items the menu as well. Who could ask for anything more.

We had an amaaaaazing dinner! It’s a small family owned restaurant with remarkable food. We were visiting from out of town and at a table of 7 we all ordered different things and each of thought we got the best thing on the menu. We’ll be back some day!
