- CCathyChicago / Illinois •2 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoWe were seated quickly as we had reservations. Farther from the beautiful tree, but we could see some of it. Our meals were delicious! We had the Lobster Biisque soup, Cranberry Citrus Chicken Salad Croissant, and Lobster Ravoli. Everything was scrumptious! Our server, Yolanda, was very attentive. Offered a few selections and brought us drinks. Online reservations were a bit challenging as time slots only opened up the day before our scheduled arrival. Overall, our experience at The Walnut Room was delightful!More infoThe Walnut Room - ChicagoPrice: Expensive• American• Downtown / Loop•4.6

The sweet potato bisque soup was delicious…the garnish was a little off though - not sure what it was. There was also a spice I could not identify in the otherwise beautifully dressed house salad that was unpleasant enough I didn’t eat it —fine to add unique tastes to other dishes, but not something I’d expect in a basic house salad. I’d ordered the hamburger the last few times I’ve eaten there — always a winner! My friend took my advice and agreed! Glad I ventured out to try the Cuban sandwich - a new favorite. Last but not least the beignets were amazing! Always a great experience at the Gage!More infoThe GagePrice: Moderate• American• Downtown / Loop•4.7

The timing of the service of each course was perfect! We never felt rushed and we did take our time enjoying each and every bite! All staff were great. Our server Nina was exceptional! Great knowledge of the dishes as well as the wines that complimented them. She was so genuine, nice and fun which added so much to our experience! We had the squash blossoms, blue prawns, insulate di cicoria (which was plentiful- we shared it) wild boar papperdelle pasta dish, and spaghetti ala vongole! Had a great bottle of vermentino that was featured this week. Finished with tiramisu, espresso martini and limoncello! Buonissima! Almost forgot to mention the view! They also have a peppermint espresso martini that’s really good. The hostess always says Hello to me by name and I love Quinn the server!More infoPizzeria PortofinoPrice: Expensive• Italian• River North (Chicago)•4.8

We ordered the cocio d pepe, steak, cevpi, squash, stragiatella, and dessert. All were delicious. Often great restaurants end with a whimper and serve a dessert that does not stand up to the rest of the meal. The udon and pistachio gelato are next level. I would happily order these again and likely will.More infoRose MaryPrice: Expensive• Croatian• West Loop•4.7
