Rocky Bottoms started out as an 1800s brick kiln with a purpose to fire bricks. Eventually the brick kiln was unable to compete with larger competitors and closed down after WW2. Since this time the brick kiln has offered itself as agricultural storage until it collapsed and stood derelict.In 2008 the brick kiln’s potential and need of restoration was spotted by local fishing family; The Matthews. After years of love and attention, Rocky Bottoms, as we know it today was born. Our doors opened in May 2015, just in time for the start of the crab season. Not quite the usual standard at the Ship Inn. Not enough meat on the ribs and one of the party received pork nachos having ordered chicken. A little lacking in ambience as it was fairly quiet. Wouldn’t stop us going back however.

The staff were all very polite, friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was excellent in terms of appearance and taste. The service was spot on for timings. All of our party of five guests were very impressive with the evening. The atmosphere was great for a busy Friday evening.

It’s always good at the Dun Cow, all year round. Today was the perfect lunch on a clear winter’s day after a long walk. Fantastic moules frites, paired well with pints of Timothy Taylor Landlord and Moongazer Pintail. Lovely table service from attentive and delightful staff. Dog friendly in the bar which adds to the warm, cosy atmosphere. (As always), the best pub on the North Norfolk Coast. Just don’t tell anyone… (oops!)
