The George Public House is a Victorian reincarnation of a 15th century coffee house located at the meeting point of the Strand and Fleet Street, directly facing the spectacular architecture of the Royal Courts of Justice and a 10 minute walk from the West End. In the Autumn of 2014, The George underwent an extensive and considerate refurbishment of the ground floor bar and first floor dining room. This saw the creation of an elegant and sophisticated restaurant; The George. What fantastic service. Food did not disappoint but the service was the real star of the evening - upstairs manager (they let us sit upstairs given how packed downstairs was) made the whole evening a treat.

We booked a meal here as we were staying in the hotel and going to the theatre. I booked early as I had seen an offer if you ate before 4pm but we didn’t get the discount, and I couldn’t find it again afterwards. The restaurant was very quiet at that time so there wasn’t much ambiance but I would imagine the ambiance is good when it is busier. The service was good, attentive but not intrusive, and the food was lovely. Overall we would go again if we were in London.
