Stark is located in East Mersea, Essex and is owned and run by Ben and Sophie Crittenden, who opened their first site in Broadstairs back in December 2016 with the aim of securing a better work/life balance and enabling Ben to enjoy more time with their three young children, Ivy, Rosa and Arlo. Before relocating to Mersea Island, Stark was the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Thanet and one of five in the whole of Kent.At Stark, only one, set tasting menu is served with no options or alternatives available. Because of this, Stark is unable to cater for any allergies or dietary requirements, for any reason as all guests eat the exact same meal each night.     We visited to celebrate my sons 21st. Wow wow and wow Staff are polite, courteous, down to earth and very kind There are lots of staff so you’re not left waiting. They wait on you and treated the kids great also. Food was 10/10 and presentation was lit of this world. Cocktails were amazing. You get the drift, the place is amazing

    Best restaurant in Maldon. Excellent food, lovely and clean and very attentive staff. Just the perfect amount of time between courses and never feel rushed. The 3 course deal on Sunday afternoon is amazing value and the kids loved their food too! Highly recommend this place!!

    We went for the Valentines Day lunch which was wonderful, as always. I ordered the Valentines chocolate box on line when booking. I was hoping the chocolates would arrive at our table as a surprise for my wife. When I mentioned chocolates at the end of our meal our waitress had no idea what I was talking about and brought a senior colleague who also had no clue. Eventually he found the item and shew it to me on his phone and said I needed to order it as an extra, which I had done. So no surprise, eventually they said there will be no charge for the chocolates - which was kind, but the moment had passed. Staff training on 'specials' would be the way forward.

    This is one of our family favourite places. Today was my 60th birthday celebration, and as usual the food was excellent. We have been going to Banquet for years and a change of ownership but consistently yummy food. Highly recommend
