Restaurants near Wheelockville District

We’ve enjoyed another dinner at Alicante and it is our go to place for a guaranteed fantastic meal. Jessica waited on us and recommended a Cabernet that was outstanding. She took the time to discuss wines and offered other recommendations that we’ll purchase at our local store. Alicantes is a hidden gem in Mendon and I’d put it up against any restaurants in Boston and Providence. Well worth the trip.

We have been here several times and have always had a great experience. Reservations are a must on weekends. The bar is always crowded and energetic. Menu is big . Portions are fairly large and if you are a moderate eater you will have take homes for sure. Food is exceptional and varies from traditional Italian based menu? They always have specials . Our group of 4 had a hard time deciding because there were so many great menu options. Appetizers, bread, main course, and desserts were very good. This is a must try restaurant but because it tends to be crowded on Weekends be prepared for a busy and a little noisy atmosphere. The staff is very personable and attentive.

Every time we go to River Falls it doesn’t disappoint! The buffalo chicken Mac and cheese is my husbands favorite dish. He says it’s so creamy and the right amount of spice. I got the lobster roll on the Valentine’s Day menu, it was really good for a warm buttery lobster roll. I usually like it cold with mayo but this was great. We got to listen to live music while we ate and that added to the experience. Definitely be going back again. Next time I will be trying the Shepards pie that’s made with short back ribs instead of hamburger.

Valentine's Day Dinner - we did not attend the event; we just had dinner. The food was delicious. We had the short ribs appetizer, duck ragout, and pork shank. The pasta for the duck was perfectly al dente. Everything had a nice presentation. We were full without being stuffed. The drinks were good (the old-fashioned was a little watered down) and, while we did not get a smoky drink, it was fun to watch other guests have them served up. The noise level was just right for date night. This was our first visit so I do not know if that was because it was all couples or if that is their normal sound level. We will definitely go back.

We’ve been to the Hudson location many of times. This location was just as fantastic. Seemed a lot bigger which was great considering reservations for two adults and three kids can be tricky, especially on a holiday such as Valentine’s Day! Our waitress was wonderful and playful with the children. Food was absolutely delish!
