My husband & I went to the owl cafe for a post Valentine’s Day dinner. We have been in the past & enjoyed the crab cakes. Unfortunately they were not very good this time. They were covered in a gross thick yellow sauce. So much so that I could barely eat it. Then I ordered a steak for my entree & asked for everything to come plated so none of the food items were touching each other. My entire plate came out covered in the same yellow sauce as the crab cakes. I had to send my food back in order to eat it. By the time I received my meal my husband’s food was cold.

My wife and I dined there Feb 14th (Valentine’s Day) for the first time. We loved the atmosphere, the drinks were very good, and the food was fantastic. The service was top notch. We live here in Port St. Joe and we definitely dine here again and highly recommend. Five star food and service

Special Valentines Day menu. App, entree, dessert, glass of wine. $135 total for 2 people. Food was delicious and came out quickly. Servers not professional. Ours didn’t check on us until the end. She was nice though. Had to run her down to order more wine. Our glasses sat empty well into our entree. They don’t sell bottles so you have to order the glasses separately. Had good live music, singer/guitar. They let us keep the heart-shaped board that the dessert selection was served on. That was a nice touch. Overall we enjoyed the evening.

Our server Tracey was fantastic she took her time Made some excellent suggestions. And even took time to take some pictures for us Not only was it Valentine’s Day but was our anniversary too She even had them write happy anniversary on our cake plate.

We ate at the Franklin Cafe twice while staying at the Gibson Inn in Apalachicola. The evening we arrived we had dinner at the Franklin Cafe. After traveling we appreciated the convenience. We shared a dozen raw oysters (this IS Apalachicola!) to begin. My husband followed with the Fried oyster Caesar salad. He was delighted to find nearly a dozen oysters topping the dressed greens. I am happy he shared. I ordered the Steakhouse wedge salad which was also generously sized. Our server was pleasant and with very few other diners, the restaurant was quiet, although we could hear the lively crowd in the adjacent Parlor bar. One morning we ate breakfast at the Franklin Cafe. They begin serving at 8:00 AM. The standard breakfast with eggs, bacon, grits and biscuit was filling. The French toast came with fresh berries and paired with a side of eggs was great.
