This stylish Four Seasons Hotel steakhouse is a special occasion spot fit for presidents. Case in point: the Obamas hosted their 20th wedding anniversary dinner here in 2012. Went for my wife's birthday. From the hostess thru all the servers wished her a happy birthday. Most tender steak we've ever had. Enjoyed the complementary appetizer also. Very cordial and attentive staff.

We were always intrigued by the great aromas coming out of Das Ethiopia in the past, so we finally had a chance to take advantage. It was great! We had no idea what we were doing, so we just took our server's advice to share the sampler and it was wonderful. She instructed us on how to eat the food (no utensils) and we did pretty well (left a clean plate). The sampler was quite filling for just 2 hungry people. They do serve alcohol. Great restaurant.

There was a private event that required we be seated in a private dining room that was cozy and comfortable. Despite this huge event happening, our service by Gustavo was incredibly attentive and timely. What a warm and wonderful human being! Chef Todd Gray always manages to hire the best staff out there. They are incredibly personable, knowledgeable and caring about their work. The food is always scrumptious and top notch. Equinox is our go-to plant-based restaurant for sure. It's always a celebration of food, love, ambience, and fabulous service. We adore it there.

If your occasion calls for a full-fledged vegan feast, head to this elegant Federalist townhouse. Elizabeth’s Gone Raw was singled out as one of the best vegan restaurants in the world by the Evening Standard, and it takes just one bite of chef Francisco Hernandez’s artistic creations—watermelon skin tartare with nori confetti for the win—to understand why (a fully raw feast is available upon request). Note that the restaurant is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays evenings, so plan your special night out accordingly.

Yesterday evening we celebrated my daughter's 38th birthday at Elizabeth's- and now all of us are ready to go back tonight.The minute you walk in the door of Elizabeth's you feel as if you have been welcomed into a cosy and elegant historical home.  We were greeted warmly by Elizabeth and the staff, all of whom are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and culinarily multi-talented. And the dinner experience is similar to being served a new piece of artwork with each course. Would I ever be able to replicate the Klamath Return, a kombu-marinated chioggia beet, caraway crisp and celery root, or the Cleopatra's Ambrosia, with sea buckthorn, pink banana sorbet and kinome leaf,  or the Velvet Immortal with the saffron pickled enoki mushroom? Not in my wildest dreams.  My family normally inhales their food, but this time conversation was at a minimum as we took time to appreciate each new amazing taste sensation. Our party consisted of one vegan,  one vegetarian , and two omnivores,  and all of us agreed Elizabeth's is the best restaurant in DC.

Mala Tang is a cook-your-own Sichuan food star tailor made for large and lively gatherings. It’s named for the distinctive hot pots served across China, and you’ll find groups digging into plenty of excellent versions on its many round tables. Go with friends or family to do justice to the spectacular soups, which come with dippable ingredients like prawns, fish balls, and more. Multiple broth types—ranging from mild to tongue-numbing spicy (Sichuan peppercorns and chile oil)—let you and your crew order mains according to heat tolerances. Mala needs to spruce up its facility. One waiter only. Poor guy running whole Place. He was very nice and as quick as possible. Terrible lighting and heat was lacking on a cold night. Kinda sad since the food was very good. Dark and cold last night.

Restaurant vet Ashok Bajaj (Bombay Club, Modena) is a pro at standing out in a city full of special-occasion hotspots. His latest took over the famed Oval Room in 2021, but it’s a far cry from the buttoned-up American restaurant it used to be. Instead, celebrations at La Bise are all about revamped French food made with surprising ingredients like pineapple and blood orange. Get the knockout pistachio mille-feuille for dessert and you’ll definitely score bonus points with the person you’re celebrating.

This was an amazing restaurant. The food and service was outstanding. Our party of four had the octopus and frites for appetizers. Our entrees were Alaskan black cod, veal sweetbreads and Branzino. I highly recommend and look forward to going back soon.
