About the restaurant
Family-run restaurants often seem to try a little harder than most, and that’s particularly true at Backwoods Brewing Company. They serve a good selection of wine along with local and seasonal brews. The half logs behind the bar and the wood panels that list available drafts are a nice touch, but the numerous televisions positioned where everyone can see them shows the owners are geared towards making sure no one misses the game. Traditional buffalo is their only wing selection, but thanks to their house made sauce, they’re certainly some of the best wings in Portland. Guests can then choose between a variety of burgers, sandwiches, wraps and salads.

About the restaurant
One may not expect to find some of the best wings in Portland in one of the city's finest sushi bars, but that's exactly what Yama Sushi & Izakaya accomplishes. Their wings are baked and come equipped with Japanese seasoning. Even though they're delicious, however, guests shouldn't overlook the seafood ramen, tuna poke, jalapeno hamachi carpaccio or impressive selection of sushi. All of these are delicious options and can be enjoyed surrounded by large Asian lanterns, cute Maneki-neko cats, intricate battle murals and unique lighting.

Good food and service -- but it was cold with a heat problem in the restaurant, which seemed to make service go really quickly.

Tualatin
About the restaurant
Those seeking a stellar Happy Hour need to visit Claim Jumper at least once. The discounts go from 3 pm to closing time on the weekdays. This means guests can admire the antler chandelier, vintage wall art and rustic architecture without constantly watching the clock. Patrons luckily get a deep discount on some of the best wings in Portland – in mild, spicy or Asian sauce – if they show up during these hours. Even if the timing is wrong, though, the wings, fish tacos, buffalo chicken wrap and Widow Maker Burger are well worth the expense.

We went to Claim Jumper's in Tualatin 3 years after moving to Lake Oswego. We were delighted to discover that it's similar to the Northwood's Inn we used to love back in CA, but with better food and a bigger selection. Nice kid's menu, too. I'm sure we'll make it one of our favorites--and next time, I'll leave room for one of their fabulous cake desserts! Trudi Lake Oswego

About the restaurant
The award-winning pizzas served at The Star are enough to attract the most committed foodie in Portland, but their hard work doesn't stop there. Oven roasted cauliflower, a variety of salads, burrata caprese and some of the best wings in Portland are also available. Their spicy baked wings come with dry spice rub that cuts down on the need for Wet-Naps. The majestic mural behind the bar, old-school luxury seating and over-the-top chandeliers create a unique atmosphere that no other eatery has replicated.

About the restaurant
High atop the iconic Meier & Frank building sits Departure Restaurant – a concept that offers panoramic views of the city along with contemporary Asian cuisine. Those who sit on the exterior deck get an eyeful, but everyone inside is privy to hip decor that includes fancy chandeliers, a giant map of the Sea of Love, historic dresses hung on the walls and an overall contemporary feel. The menu is just as impressive and features smoked octopus, roasted stripe bass, skirt steak and some of the best wings in Portland – covered in sweet chili glaze.

We had the Peking duck experience, as December is Duck Month at Departure. The duck was beautifully presented before the final stage of cooking to crisp the skin and apply the final layer of glaze. The meal consisted of duck bone broth, the Peking duck with thin pancakes, cucumbers, green onions, hoisin sauce, pickled cumquats, duck fried rice, and duck fat ice cream with sesame brittle and berry sauce. The meal was delicious. There is a huge sale list, but we opted for the Lillet All Day and 75-ish cocktails. A glass of Domaine du Petit Bonhomme went perfectly with the duck. Our server, Hailey, was great.

About the restaurant
Most eateries have promotions meant to bring in guests, but none come close to what is offered at Brix Tavern. Every Wednesday night, guests flip a coin with their server. If they win, they immediately receive a gift card equal to their tab’s value. This means patrons could potentially have some of the best wings in Portland – featuring pickled veggies and smoked tomato aioli – for absolutely free. Pool tables and dart boards offer patrons excitement, but relaxing in the Whiskey Room is just as appealing.
