What a delight! I came in for my birthday lunch! Visiting Montreal solo for a few days and this place did not disappoint! Sparkling water and steak tartare to start, then the beef Bourguignon and a side of focaccia bread and a Pinot noir. Finished off the experience with a Kir Imperial ( similar to Kir royale)! The waiter was fantastic and did not rush me, as I sat and enjoyed my drink and read a book for a bit. What a special gem!

We chose the early sitting of 5:30 knowing most people would still be commuting home from work before heading out for dinner. It was a good plan because we had the opportunity to experience a calm and intimate meal. Walking to the building from the car was so lovely because the Christmas lights were on and snow was gently falling. Gorgeous. The staff were so kind and attentive but not intrusive. And the food! Wow! My wife had the half rack of lamb and it was so tender she didn’t even need the knife. I had the prime rib and it was probably the best in the city. It was a lovely and relaxing evening and a perfect way to start the weekend off.

Trius Winery is our favourite restaurant and by far the best value in Niagara on the Lake. It is beautiful inside and out. There is a good selection on the menu and every dish is well executed. Service is friendly and attentive but unobtrusive. They always make it feel like a special occasion. Do yourself and favour and try this restaurant which was recently recognized by Michelin.

Opened in 1986 by Uli Blume, it was one of White Rock's original waterfront restaurants and quickly became a favourite among locals for its great food and friendly atmosphere. Three of us recently dined at Vero for the first time. I decided to take a moment to write a review since we were all very impressed with the quality of the service, the ambiance, the quality of the food, and the attention to detail. Two of us had the surf and turf platter and the other had the tagliatelle puttanesca. We also had some olives to start and tiramisu to finish. The suggested wine pairing with the platter was spot on and was not overly expensive. After the first few bites, it soon became apparent that the chef was able to capitalize on the quality and marriage of the ingredients for flavour so did not need to use excessive salt, sweetness or butter as a crutch. While the pasta and the platter offerings were all terrific, I thought the lamb stood out. It was exceptional. Dining at Vero is not cheap but I think it is good value considering the outstanding quality of the food and service. I will definitely be back. By the way, I'm almost positive that I saw Mr. Frank Wong dining at a nearby table. Frank Wong seems to have disappeared from the scene over the past decade or so, but some foodies may recall that "back in the day" Frank Wong was one of the country's most discerning yet reclusive food critics. The fact that Frank Wong chooses to dine at Vero is high praise indeed.

We always have an amazing meal here. We try to visit at least twice a year. Our server, Cathy, is delightful and explains the pairings at each course. Food is amazing. Wine is incredible. Even the "server helper" (sorry! Didn't get a name!!) is attentive and professional. Even laughing at my jokes, politely lol. It is such a treat to come here. We are fans!!!
