Love and Salt is a story that begins with Cafe Pierre, a restaurant birthed by Guy Gabriele in 1977 to bring a taste of France to Los Angeles’ South Bay. While Cafe Pierre was a beloved part of the community for nearly 37 years, in 2014, Guy and his daughter Sylvie Gabriele, now the owner of Love and Salt, closed the restaurant to bring new life to the iconic space.

Love and Salt is a philosophy: that food needs only two ingredients to be great. It’s a sensibility that informs the feeling in the restaurant and the dishes on the menu — Italian-inspired with Southern California soul. An approachable wine list and classic cocktail program similarly reflect the vibrant SoCal setting of the restaurant, located just steps from the Manhattan Beach pier.

Love this place. The squash blossom pizza is 👌🏻 and the pasta is delicious. I’ve been here tons and never had a bad meal. Staff is friendly, good location, yummy cocktails. A++

We planned a birthday celebration for our son-in-law and looked forward to visiting this restaurant for the first time. It was a disappointing experience all around. The service was slow. The food was mediocre and the specialty drinks blah. The acoustics in the restaurant were not good as it was difficult to talk. I would have to regrettably say that the experience was far off our entire group's expectation based on the cost. We will not revisit and will obviously not refer any one we know.

Overall a good experience. Had the bone marrow pasta, kale Caesar, meatballs and Margherita pizza. Loved the pizza dough, kale was interesting and good with toasty crouton. Meatball and pasta checked but I would try other things before having that. I wish there was more seafood dishes. The bar is super cute and ambiance was great.

Flavors of each dish were wonderful. Homemade & rich flavors for each pasta dish added to the enjoyment. Burrata w/ roasted fruits could be a dessert!

This place is so good! You have to get the lady in the ballroom cocktail. Have been visiting for years… it is the perfect girls night out spot/date night spot.

The delicious food and excellent service are the reasons to come to Love and Salt. Be prepared for a crowded and very loud dining space. Wish there was a little more ambiance and breathing room.
