Lucia features California-regional cuisine with local organic, seasonal produce as well as regional seafood and artisan farmed meats. Taking full advantage of the resort’s pastoral location, the new design artfully combines modern comforts with the natural elegance of Carmel Valley wine country. In addition to the signature fireplace, custom chairs, linens and drapery have added texture and depth while bringing elements of the outdoors inside. A cozy outdoor terrace with firepit and heaters also complements the main dining room.

The Forbes four-star restaurant has been named Zagat’s “Top Restaurant in the Bay Area” and received Wine Spectator magazine’s “Best of Award of Excellence” since 2001 for its wine cellar. The cellar houses 1,850 different wines and a total of more than 25,000 premium bottles, including 10,000 bottles from nearby Bernardus Winery.

    Beautiful setting on the patio. Celebrated my daughter’s birthday. We both a nice and relaxing lunch. I will definitely come again.

    Aside from the comparatively high prices (which were expected)l and the blah mocktails, we have no disagreeable things to report about this fantastic restaurant. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was casual yet sophisticated, the menu variety was impressive, and the dishes were absolutely delicious.

    Lucia is a great restaurant with a very attentive and accommodating staff. Clearly the best in Carmel Valley and certainly among the best on the Peninsula. Great menu and service. First class. They handle gluten free requests with ease, and also with innovation. Prices are reasonable considering the overall quality of the menu, the service, and venue.

    First time here since “new” chef. Tasting menu was really inventive and well crafted. We will be back for the next one!

    We loved the food! And the service was impeccable. We also enjoyed the outdoor music though we might have been sitting too close to the music as we had older adults in our party and we had difficulty hearing. But other than that - we absolutely loved the dining experience - and the shopping ;-)

    Eggs Benedict was overcooked, not poached but soft boiled. Toast was never delivered to our table with the omelette we ordered. Our water glasses were never re-filled. We had to ask for condiments ( Tabasco and ketchup for our potatoes and it came when the potatoes were cold). When our server FINALLY showed up to leave the check, he asked if we would like another gin fizz. Really! Even though it was Mother’s Day, that is not an excuse! We had an early reservation at 10:15 out on the terrace where there were three empty tables the entire hour. Lucia- you are better than this! We usually have a cappuccino, but we were so disappointed we just wanted to get out of there. Not one person checked during or after our meal to see how things were. We have been going here for three years every month and will not be here for a while until they retrain their serving staff.

    We keep hoping that Bernardus will return to its days of glory. The setting is idlyic but they continue to fall short of providing outstanding cuisine. However, they price their food / drinks as if they were a 5 star Michelin establishment. Not likely to return
