We decided to try this restaurant because of its convenient location near the trolley and its nice views. Typically, hotel restaurants—especially those inside a Marriott—offer a great dining experience, so we had high expectations. Unfortunately, we left disappointed and agreed this would be our last visit. With so many excellent dining options in Downtown San Diego, there’s no reason to settle for slow and mediocre service. That said, our server was not to blame. He was set up for failure by management on Valentine’s Day. His section was far too large, and he had no support. It took over eight minutes just to place our drink order, and when our drinks finally arrived, they came out at the same time as our entrees and appetizer. On top of that, the server forgot what we had ordered and had to return to confirm. At that point, I canceled my cocktail and opted for soda water, as I had lost confidence in the bar’s ability to deliver a well-made drink in a timely manner. The unfortunate part is that the restaurant could have easily increased its sales if service had been better. We were prepared to order a bottle of wine, after-dinner drinks, and dessert, but the experience led us to cut our losses. After paying the check, we decided to go to Nonna’s in Little Italy, where we enjoyed drinks and dessert—exactly what we had hoped for initially. It’s disappointing that poor staffing and management decisions resulted in such a lackluster experience, especially on a night as significant as Valentine’s Day. Hopefully, they address these issues in the future, but unfortunately, we won’t be returning to find out.

We have been here several times and it’s pretty good! Definitely the best hotel food I’ve ever had. Service can be touch and go but nothing too bad. When we stay at the Marriott this place is always our fall back.

Overall a good meal. Somewhat limited menu options for sandwiches/handhelds. Otherwise, I'd recommend this spot.

We ordered the hamburger and spicy chicken sandwich. Honestly the best tasting meal we'd had in the 5 days we spend in San Diego. The homemade chips were the best I'd ever had. Also the price was very reasonable. We had spent double the money at a cold meal at Roy's and after having this meal our last night there, we wish we'd eaten as the Marina Kitchen more than once. Our server was pleasant and attentive as well.

We used to love this restaurant - we basically spent there every night of our stay in San Diego. Unfortunately, the chef probably has changed, so while the ingredients taste very fresh, the combination lacks of simplicity. Our fish was extremely salty - it was barely edible. We’ll come back and we hope that they’ll reconsider their menu, which tasted far better when it was simpler.
