Voted “Best Japanese Restaurant” by Baltimore Magazine and the Baltimore City Paper year after year, as well as the recipient of the highest rankings from the Baltimore Sun and Zagat. Matsuri opened in Federal Hill in 1996 as the culmination of Bill Tien’s vision for Japanese cuisine in Baltimore. Matsuri is frequented by Baltimore’s many sports celebrities as well as visiting filmmakers and political figures. His chefs are routinely hired to prepare sushi dinners for customers and their friends in their homes.

This was my first time going here. I was going to meet up with some friends and we all wanted asian cuisine. It’s hard finding a good restaurant with good food and service. I’m not from Maryland so I was a little hesitant not knowing if I would like this restaurant. The servers were really nice. The food was AMAZING. Would 100% go back.

Great to see Matsuri open again after their reconstruction. They seem very happy to welcome guests again. We were warmly welcomed, and enjoyed an excellent selection of appetizers and sushi. I especially recommend their Dragon roll and volcano roll.

The restaurant was not even open. It was closed for renovations. How does open table allow and even confirm my reservation for a restaurant that has NOT been open for 1.5 months. TERRIBLE

We ate ramen and sushi, and both were very good! There were so many choices on the menu we wanted to try that we will definitely be back!

Food is always fresh here. Service was a little slow Despite only having two tables the whole time we were there.

Even so this restaurant is on open table, they don’t honor reservations through this app. Call in reservations only.

Service was solicitous whether ordering sushi or kitchen entrees, all of which were delicious. I ordered the pork cutlet with curry, which came with two filets of tonkatsu, enough that I saved almost half of it for lunch the next day. My son's katsudon was equally generous and had the sweetness of onions and eggs. My wife stuck to nigiri sushi, just beautiful fish on a ball of rice. Gorgeous.

Celebrated our son’s 21st birthday with wonderful sushi meal at Matsuri. Small restaurant but food was very fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the speciality rolls. The Flaming Dragon roll, Monster roll and Matsuri Eel roll are outstanding. A well earned reputation as one of Baltimore’s best!
