Matteo’s Osteria is Italian Soulfood in the heart of Wailea located at The Wailea Town Center. As the 2016 ‘Aipono Award winner for Best Italian Food on Maui, 2020 & 2022 Aipono Silver Award Best Italian we invite you to savor our locally-sourced ingredients, fresh-made pastas, local caught fish and scrumptious entrées. Our traditional style comes from the influence of award-winning Best Chef on Maui, Matteo Mistura, born and raised in Liguria, Italy. Ambiance was nice, not too loud but not awkwardly quiet either. Food was just okay for us. Bread that was brought was served room temperature (not sure if intentional or not). Got two pasta dishes and split a Caesar salad along with a cocktail and a glass of wine. The pasta was good but did not stand out to us. Still would recommend if you’re looking for a casual spot. However, for the pricing and what we got I don’t feel it was as valuable for us when comparing to other elevated Italian restaurant options; even those on the resorts.

We ate at Ko, Olivine, Nick’s Fish Market, Manoli’s and Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, all fine places. Nothing, however,came close to the food, service, ambiance and general good cheer at Matteo’s. We ate there three times and loved it each time. Next trip to Maui we’ll make it four.
