Waiter was very attentive. The peanut soup was tasty as always. Fires in the fireplaces were cheerful on a cloudy, cold day.

The power went out while we were there and the staff was incredible. They were communicative, made sure we were comfortable and did what they could. They comped our meal; we offered to pay for our drinks but they would not let us.

The food and service were excellent. New York strip steak was prepared to my request as medium doneness. And the servings of both the steak and green vegetable was generous. The appetizer crab soup was also well seasoned and served at an appropriate hot temperature. Given the cold and rainy weather I would have preferred a table Not next to a window with a draft. However, the wait staff was were attentive and we were not rushed out after we had finished our meal.

Though I made reservations in the restaurant…my friend and I ate in the bar…with Harry…THE best bartender ever. Talk about personal service….Harry brought and refilled our wine glasses without us even having to ask. Really, the most fun, neighborhood bar….with a great restaurant too.

Our food was delicious. Jambalaya, trout, crab cakes and fried chicken were all great. Large portions, well prepared. Cherry pie for dessert as well, of course! Thank you Reese for your friendly, great service.

What a shame, this should be one of Northern Virginia’s premier restaurants. This is George Washington’s home for Gods sake but instead of a wonderful fine dining experience you get thrown into a bland room without table cloths. A barn door with a lot of noise from whatever event is next door. The food is not good. Straight off the Sysco truck and onto your plate. Lower quality ingredients and really nothing is homemade. We would gladly pay a little more for fresh home made food, white table cloths and a nicely decorated room. Dining in a place like this should be a great experience but frankly we couldn’t wait to get out of there. The food is just bad and very low quality. The only thing that was good was the cornbread and our waitress. They need a complete overhaul from the floor plan, decor, menu and chef. Bad traffic pattern seems to be because of a drink station that both the event center and restaurant share. How hard is it to crest another drink station so you can walk off between the two areas.
