The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch.     2nd visit in December for Christmas celebrations but this time lunch. The Xmas set menu offers a good selection of dishes offering plenty off choice for multiple visits. All the food choices for our party were excellent and service was also excellent as always. The restaurant was busy this lunchtime and this made the place lively providing a good ambience for lunch Thanks for a great lunch and the wonderful meals we have had over the last 12 months. Will be back in 2025

    Lovely lunch at a pub I used to visit as a child. It was great to be back. A real countryside treat in such a fabulous old building. The staff were very friendly and chatty, it felt very welcoming. The website describes food as traditional pub food however I think that’s an understatement as it’s verging on fine dining. Will be back to sample more of the menu.
