Au in der Hallertau Restaurants

My family of 3 shared Christmas lunch at Brenner this year while visiting Munich. It was easily one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and certainly at Christmas. We were seated by the pasta kitchen, so got to watch many of the dishes being made before we ordered. Every dish we had was lovely: beef with potatoes and béarnaise, tagliatelle with beef ragout, grilled prawns, crème brûlée, apple crumble and home made bread. The service was excellent, the restaurant beautiful. We really enjoyed this lovely surprise. Thanks to the restaurant staff for working through Christmas. They made the occasion very special for us.

Great restaurant with lovely food and outstanding service. In the words of my daughter, ‘this is my favourite restaurant, the steak is the best’.

An excellent bierhaus to visit for lunch or dinner. The place has a lot of character and the staff are very friendly with good service.

I had the good fortune to make a stop in the picturesque town of Wolnzach during my travels through Germany, where I discovered the "Grantlerwirt" inn. From the moment I stepped into the quaint, traditional building, I was swept away by the warm, inviting ambiance and friendly service. The service was authentic, down-to-earth, and exceedingly considerate. Every staff member seemed genuinely concerned with ensuring that I felt at home and fully enjoyed the intricacies of the Bavarian inn experience. Whether it was the Schnitzel, Schweinshaxe, or pretzels - every dish was a feast for the palate. The quality of the ingredients, the skill of the chef, and the attention to detail ensured that every meal was a highlight in its own right. The location was also impressive. The Bavarian interior and the picturesque beer garden were like a window into German culture and tradition - a true experience for someone like me who comes from the USA and is looking for an authentic German experience. Overall, the Grantlerwirt is a place I would love to return to on my next visit to Germany. It offered me a welcome break from the tourist traps and the opportunity to immerse myself in authentic Bavarian inn culture. For anyone traveling through Wolnzach or living nearby, the Grantlerwirt is an absolute must-visit!
